Real Estate

We have substantial experience in acting for real estate agents and the people whom real estate agents refer to us. We understand the real estate industry and its problems – to act for real estate agents, you need to know more than just property law. Cameron Sweeney acts in relation to contractual disputes, employment issues, residential tenancy issues, commercial leasing problems, rent roll issues, misuse of confidential information, commission disputes and disciplinary investigations and proceedings.

Contracts

Contractual disputes are probably the legal problem most commonly encountered by business owners and private individuals. We advise on contractual problems and act in any legal proceedings that follow. Cameron Sweeney has great experience in this area and was, for many years, a guest lecturer and part-time tutor in Contract Law at Murdoch University.

Trusts

The most important aspect of trusts work is compliance advice and this is usually required more than litigation. We advise extensively in this area and act in legal proceedings when it becomes necessary.

Property

Property problems come in many varieties and we advise extensively in this area. Contractual issues in relation to the sale and purchase of real estate, adverse possession, residential tenancy, commercial leasing and misleading or deceptive conduct claims are some examples. For several years, Cameron Sweeney tutored in Property Law at Murdoch University.

Company Issues

Our practice undertakes corporate compliance work, including shareholders’ meetings, directors’ meetings and advice as to the duties of directors. We act in directors and officers claims and in a range of company disputes.

Wills and Estates

If you think you might want to make a claim in relation to a will, or to dispute its validity, getting prompt legal advice is extremely important.  Sweeney Legal does a great deal of work in the wills and estates field, acting in family provision claims and disputes as to the validity of wills.

Native Title

We advise on native title compliance and, usually, there is a greater need for this than there is for litigation.  We also act in native title litigation when that becomes necessary.

Consumer Law

Cameron Sweeney has conducted many cases involving allegations of misleading or deceptive conduct or product liability. He has acted in numerous Department of Commerce disciplinary enquiries and consumer prosecutions.

Engineering / Technical Disputes

We focus on issues involving product liability, defective machinery, metallurgical issues and engineering and construction issues.
